Leadership Development
Leadership & Teamwork Make the Dream Work!
"No Creature can fly with just one wing. Gifted Leadership occurs where heart and head-feeling and thought-meet. These are the two wings that allow a leader to soar!"
-Daniel Goleman, Richard Boyatzis, Annie McKee: Primal Leadership
Leadership Development Process
Millions of dollars are spent on leadership training every year to no avail. We still have a significant lack of leadership in all areas of society, and at all levels of business and government.
The missing ingredient is trust — leaders are failing to build trust with those who need their direction and guidance, and as a result, they don't follow. A high level of trust is critical to leadership success, and yet so many leaders fail to build trust, despite all the training they have been given.
The missing piece in the leadership education puzzle is the understanding that being trustworthy does not mean that you will be successful in building trust. Most leaders are trustworthy, in an honest, ethical, moral sense, and yet they continue to diminish the trust that their employees and customers have for them and the company.
Experiential Learning: Leadership/Coach's Training
Purpose: Our two-day Experiential Leadership/Coach’s Training is another unique training experience that will take the traditional classroom session to a new level. Each participant will not only better understand the vital role of the coach but also will experience being a coach and receive personal instructor feedback and coaching for these critically needed leadership skills.
Major Focus: Recognizing the difference between autocratic, laissez faire and coaching leadership styles.
- Leadership paradigms and their effect on teams and an organization.
- Communication skill development.
- Principles of Empowering.
- Customer and Performance Focused systems.
- Situational Leadership mindset.
- Structuring the Team Basics for success.
- Assessing and coaching teams and leadership skills.
- Understanding and applying behavioral styles.
- Measuring team and leadership dynamics.
Who Should Attend: Anyone in a leadership role with an individual, a work group or a team with empowerment as one of your goals.
The Process: We need a minimum group of six, twelve or a maximum of 18 participants so that each will experience being a Coach and a Team Leader. Each team of six will rotate through a sequence of new and challenging experiential activities, [indoor or out], while assessing themselves, the team, and the leader afterwards. Every participant will experience all the team roles as well as the Coach's role with "Active Coaching" from an instructor. Each Team Leader will receive coaching feedback (both written & verbal) from the participant Coach and the instructors. Debriefings also involve proven techniques that can be used to deal with real issues back at work with their own teams or situations. This course includes a notebook of helpful Leadership & Coaching materials & tools used in the training.

The group rotates through a series of stations where participants, using the Situational Coaching and Training Model, practice using effective coaching and training techniques and principles in both group and one-on-one situations. Each participant will experience taking someone through a new process while learning how and when to use the directive style, the coaching and supporting style and finally the delegating style. Through the use of assessments by fellow participants and hands-on coaching by the instructors, invaluable feedback is given and received in a safe learning environment. Improvement is measured with pre and post assessments of the trainer's skills before and after the training session.
